The 2023-24 Grand Prix will be run over three rounds on:

Round - 1 Sunday, December 10 2023

Round - 2 Sunday, February 13, 2024

Round 3 - Sunday, April 14, 2024

Entry fees: individual rounds @ £20, all three @ £50

There will be separate men’s and women’s competitions with a maximum entry of 9 men’s teams and 9 women’s.

Men’s and women’s matches will run side by side in the two court venue between 10am and 1pm with second phase on games between 1.00 and 4.00 pm.

All matches will be of 2 sets to 21 points played in a maximum 30 minute timeslot.

One Grand Prix point will be awarded per set won, league table rankings will be based on Grand Prix points then overall game points difference accrued over the 3 rounds.

Results and tables will be published online after each round.

Teams that are unable to play in all 3 rounds could still win with strong results in 2.

The competition is designed so that (as far as possible) teams will all play each other once over the course of the three rounds. The competition format at each event will be based on groups of 3 or 4 teams playing alternating triangular matches (or 4 team pools). Teams will have two or three matches per round over the course of each 3 hour session.

We will aim to group teams of equivalent strength together in round 1, the draw for Rounds 2 & 3 will depend on the results in Round 1.

Handicaps

Club entries can use players from more than one team and the handicap will be normally be based on the team positioned higher in the MVL league but up to 2 players from an A team can be included in a B team entry.

Teams coming from outside the MVL will be given a handicap equivalent to lower Div 1 teams but their handicap may be reassessed after Round 1
